PRESIDENT BARROW INAUGURATES LANDS, LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONS TO TACKLE DISPUTES, BOOST DECENTRALISATION

The President, His Excellency Adama Barrow, on Monday presided over the inauguration and swearing-in of members of the newly established Lands Commission and the Local Government Service Commission at a ceremony at State House.  The two Commissions, comprising veteran civil servants,  have the onerous task of strengthening land governance and management in the country as well as resolving disputes related to land. The Lands Commission is headed by Raymond Sock as Chairperson,  Kebba Njie, Babucarr Mbye, Abdoulie Manneh and  Juldeh Ceesay all as members. One after the other, they all took the two oaths of office and secrecy, conducted by the Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Momodou Dibba.They later signed the oath registry officially confirming their appointments. Four other officials were also sworn in to the newly established Local Government Service Commission. Former Police chief and Interior Minister Yankuba Sonko heads this Commission which also has Abdoulie Sallah, Saffie Lowe and Bahyda Hydara as members.They also took the prescribed oaths of office and secrecy,  before signing the oath book.Speaking on behalf of the two Commissions,  Raymond Sock expressed gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence reposed in them, and pledged to live up to expectations. The President described these vital institutions as “integral components of the governance process”  that will “reinforce and add value to the nation's land and local government structures.”He disclosed that the commission has a wide mandate which includes “modernising land records, resolving disputes,  promoting equitable access to land and aligning land management practices” with broader national development goals.On the creation of the local government service commission,  President Barrow said this Commission will “strengthen democracy and decentralisation” as it will operate at the level closest to the ordinary people.The President congratulated the Commissioners and thanked them for accepting this responsibility. As veteran civil servants who have served the government at the highest levels, President Barrow said the Commissioners have the “experience,  integrity and professionalism to deliver up to expectations.”He reassured that his government will give them all the support and encouragement to succeed,  and urged all stakeholders to work with the two Commissions to ensure “fair, impartial and equitable management of land.”

PRESIDENT BARROW PRESIDES OVER UTG’S 18TH CONVOCATION AS 1,633 STUDENTS GRADUATE

President H.E. Adama Barrow presided over the 18th convocation ceremony of the University of The Gambia at the Faraba Banta campus. The event celebrated the graduation of 1,633 students, making it the largest graduation in the university's history. The ceremony was attended by special guests, government officials, and students. This year's convocation was historic, featuring high-profile attendees such as Dr Akinwumi Adesina, former President of the African Development Bank, and Prof. Dauda Ngom, Senegal's Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. The Vice Chancellors of three universities from Senegal, Ghana, and Nigeria were also present at the ceremony.Professor Momodou Mustafa Fanneh, Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, described the convocation as a defining moment in the university's life, emphasising the preparation of these young men and women for a future beyond the classroom. He challenged the graduates to utilise their knowledge and experience to contribute positively to the development of society and the nation.Vice Chancellor Prof. Herbert Robinson stated that this convocation is a testament to the growth and resilience of the University of The Gambia, which now features a modern campus equipped with state-of-the-art facilities conducive to teaching and learning. VP JALLOW LAUNCHES FSQA'S STRATEGIC PLAN 2026-2030

His Excellency Mohammed B.S. Jallow, the Vice President, presided over the launch of the Food Safety and Quality Authority's (FSQA) Strategic Plan for 2026-2030 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo. This strategic plan outlines the Authority's vision, strategic priorities, and key interventions aimed at strengthening food safety and quality systems, enhancing regulatory effectiveness, and safeguarding public health in The Gambia over the medium term.The landmark event gathered key stakeholders from the government, development partners, and the private sector, highlighting the government's commitment to ensuring that citizens have broad access to quality and safe food.Momodou Bah, the Director General of FSQA, explained that this initiative aims to meet the required standards while the FSQA continues to develop national regulations. “We have an Act from 2011, regulations started in 2021, a policy was established in 2024, and now we have developed a strategic plan in 2025. This progression sharpens our focus to ensure we are fulfilling the mandates of the government,” Bah stated.This marks the beginning of a transformative journey, as food safety regulations become increasingly important in ensuring the well-being of every individual.Dr Amadou Sowe, the FSQA Board Chair, emphasised that the successful implementation of the plan will require strong government support. “This ambition will demand sustained investment, strong political will, and unwavering commitment from all stakeholders. Strategic plans don’t implement themselves; they require leadership, discipline, resources, and collective ownership,” Dr Sowe remarked.Immaculada Roca i Cortés, the European Union Ambassador to The Gambia, reiterated the EU's commitment to supporting FSQA. She expressed satisfaction in contributing to a stronger regulatory framework, a more effective inspection and control system, and enhancing technical capabilities.Reports indicate that foodborne illnesses cause an estimated 137,000 deaths annually in Africa, with productivity losses exceeding $20 billion.Public Service Minister Baboucarr Bouy assured FSQA of their support as policymakers while urging all stakeholders to back this initiative. “I urge all stakeholders to rally behind FSQA and support the effective implementation of this Strategic Plan. By doing so, we will not only protect the health of our people but also unlock opportunities for Gambian products to thrive in competitive markets,” Minister Bouy said.In his launch statement, Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow described the FSQA Strategic Plan as the result of rigorous analysis, broad consultation, and honest self-reflection. “It is a plan that is both nationally rooted and internationally aligned,” he remarked.Vice President Jallow characterised the moment as one of “genuine national significance,” stating, “The food we eat is not merely a matter of personal choice; it is a matter of public health, economic security, and national dignity.”An estimated GMD 188.1 million is required for the implementation of the strategic plan over the next five years. H.E. Mohammed B.S. Jallow called on the Ministry of Finance, development partners, and the private sector to recognise food safety as “not a cost, but an investment in public health, economic competitiveness, and The Gambia's reputation as a reliable source of safe, high-quality products in regional and international markets.”The new strategic plan commits to strengthening FSQA's institutional and operational systems, prioritising financial sustainability and resource mobilisation, risk assessment, inspection, surveillance, and enforcement.Additionally, it aims to modernise laboratory services and digital infrastructure, while deepening stakeholder engagement and public awareness.Strategic plans are not just documents; they serve as critical guides for institutions. Their clarity and effectiveness dictate how well these institutions strive to fulfil their purpose.Now that the plan has been launched, the focus will shift to its implementation, which is anticipated to enhance The Gambia’s international recognition in global food markets.

In a series of meetings at the State House, President H.E. Adama Barrow hosted Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayokor Botchwey and members of the Gambia Women's Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday.Secretary-General Botchwey was accompanied by Serign Modou Njie, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. PRESIDENT BARROW BRIEFED ON UTG CONVOCATION AS 1,600 SET TO GRADUATE IN FARABA

Officials from the University of The Gambia paid a courtesy call on the President, His Excellency Adama Barrow, at State House on Tuesday. 2026 PERMANENT SECRETARIES’ RETREAT: VP JALLOW AFFIRMS GOVERNMENT’S RESOLVE TO FULFIL NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The Vice President, His Excellency Mohammed B.S Jallow, has presided over the opening ceremony of the first quarter 2026 Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo. The convergence which brought together permanent secretaries to look at development trajectories of the government agencies, is convened under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery, and the Office of the Secretary to Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service. Permanent secretaries might not be seen frequently on the front line, but they are the technicians pulling the strings behind the woodwork to ensure efficiency at various government ministries.This four-day retreat will enable them to reflect on the progress made in implementing the Recovery Focused National Development Plan 2023-2027 and how they can continue to work together to speed up implementation. Presiding over the event, the Vice President, Mohammed B.S Jallow, said achieving sustainable development requires collaboration, affirming the government's resolve in policy guidance to realise the goals of the national development plan. “Sustainable development cannot be achieved by the government alone. It requires the collective effort and synergy of all stakeholders—the public sector, private sector, civil society, academia, and citizens alike.”“The Government of The Gambia will continue to provide clear policy direction, sound governance frameworks, and accountable leadership,” he stated.With geopolitical tension disturbing many economies across developing countries, these technicians will be compelled to accelerate the implementation of flagship projects under the Recovery-Focused National Development Plan with Vice President Mohammed B.S Jallow assuring the full backing of the government. “Let me reaffirm that the Government, under the leadership of His Excellency President Adama Barrow, remains firmly committed to strengthening the civil service and modernising public service delivery to meet the evolving needs of our people,” VP Jallow said. “The significant enhancement of civil service remuneration—by up to 130 per cent—reflects our dedication to improving welfare, boosting morale, and enhancing productivity within the public sector,” he added. Baboucar Bouy, the Minister for Public Service, urged permanent secretaries to help their ministries work to meet the growing needs of the citizenry. “The theme: “Delivering the National Development Plan: Unified Actions for Tangible Results,” speaks directly to our collective responsibility. GAMBIA LAUNCHES WEST AFRICA’S FIRST AI CENTRE TO FIGHT FAKE NEWS

The Vice President His Excellency Mohammed B.S Jallow has on behalf of the President H.E Adama Barrow presided over the launch of The Gambia's National Misinformation and Disinformation Response Centre, a landmark AI-powered government platform for detecting and responding to Misinformation.” It is established under the Ministry of Information and funded by ECOWAS. This move by the Gambia government is meant to equip citizens with critical tools needed to navigate an increasingly complex information landscape. No public figure, no institution, and no arm of government is above the scrutiny of this Centre.”“If a video circulates claiming to show a minister saying something he did not say, the NMDRC will investigate it. If a statement is falsely attributed to the President, the NMDRC will address it. That is not a courtesy we extend to the public. INFORMATION MINISTRY COMMISSIONS ANTI-FAKE NEWS RESPONSE CENTRE 

The Government of The Gambia has officially commissioned the National Misinformation and Disinformation Response Centre, the first of its kind in the West African sub-region. The landmark initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, was launched at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo. The centre is designed to detect, analyse and respond to false information, harmful narratives and digital manipulation, while promoting credible and fact-based communication.Cordu L. Jabang, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information,  described the centre as a “strategic national asset” that she said will “strengthen public trust, protect democratic institutions and improve information integrity across the country.”She thanked development partners and stakeholders for supporting the “government’s vision” to build a safer digital information environment.Amran Gaye, the Chief Executive Officer and Lead Architect of Dundal Systems - A Gambian technology company, delivered a presentation and live demonstration of the platform’s capabilities. (From left: Cordu L. PRESIDENT BARROW ENDS DECADES OF KIANG ISOLATION WITH D1.2BN, 91KM ROAD PROJECT

In a historic moment for the people of Kiang, President H.E Adama Barrow, on Saturday, officially inaugurated the 91km road linking dozens of communities in Kiang. The road project, funded at D1.2 billion, is the first of its kind in Kiang and marks a turning point for the community, which has grappled with decades of isolation and exclusion. This project is expected to open up the region to the outside world, attract investment and enhance economic opportunities.The inauguration ceremony was held at Jiffarong and attracted thousands of people who mobbed the President's motorcade as it entered the village and escorted it to the grounds amidst great fanfare. The President, flanked by the first lady,  Governor Sidi Lamin Bah and other officials, then cut the ribbons at Sankandi, marking the official inauguration of the 91km Kiang Roads Project.Speaking at the ceremony, community leaders described the project as a “historic milestone that has transformed Kiang West.”  The Alkalo of Jifarong Babanding Kinteh, the Chief of Kiang West, the youth and women's representatives at the constituency and regional levels, Fabou Sanneh and Jalika Janneh, all extended profound gratitude to President Barrow for fulfilling his promises to the people of Kiang. They recounted those difficult days when residents struggled to travel on the road, the hardships they encountered and the delays they faced, describing these as “challenging moments in the history of the area.”The speakers reassured the President that they will mobilise their constituents to “massively vote for him in December as a gesture of gratitude” for these groundbreaking developments.Sidi Lamin Bah, the Governor of the Lower River Region, underscored President Barrow's commitment to infrastructural development, noting that the Kiang West road project “will lift residents out of poverty.”The Governor appealed to the people of Kiang to “embrace the government” and “renounce the opposition,” arguing that decades of opposition support have not “brought any tangible benefits for the region.”Sulayman Sumareh, the Director General of the National Roads Authority, disclosed that this road project has been designed and constructed to “meet international standards of quality and durability.” The NRA boss said this road project brings “immense benefits” for the people as it traverses through all 33 villages in the area.The inauguration ceremony also witnessed the defection of 140 opposition supporters into the NPP. Omar Drammeh, speaking on behalf of the defectors, said they were motivated by President Barrow's “development track record, which has transformed the country.” He promised a new chapter of political realignment in Kiang as more people embrace the ruling party. Delivering his inauguration statement, President Barrow said his government is guided by the principle of “inclusive development” to ensure access to basic infrastructure and services.He noted that Kiang West has long been “neglected by previous governments” which he said “makes life difficult for residents.” This broad project, the President added, marks a turning point as it will enhance access and create unlimited opportunities.President Barrow described the new road as a “permanent symbol of transformational vision, determination and unity,” reassuring that his government will “continue to invest in road construction” with plans to undertake another 700km of road in the future. These projects, the President said are all funded from the domestic budget, with over “D18.5 billion” already spent on road projects since 2017.The President finally appealed to the people of Kiang to “support his government” to benefit from more development projects in the future.The foundation for the construction of this important road was laid in 2021, in what has become one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by the Barrow administration which places infrastructural development as a “key development priority.”This road serves as a lifeline for the people of Kiang West linking 33 villages across this vast region,  who depend on it for access to other areas.The people of Kiang rejoiced over what they believed was a new chapter in their lives, marked by decades of isolation and exclusion, which made basic travel for residents a nightmare.

His Excellency President Adama Barrow received two important visitors at the State House in Banjul on Friday. He first met with Eugene Young, the Charge d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in The Gambia, followed by a meeting with H.E. MANJAGO HEADS MEET PRESIDENT BARROW OVER KOMBO SOUTH LAND ENCROACHMENTS, URGE DIALOGUE AND LEGAL PROTECTION

The President His Excellency Adama Barrow on Wednesday met with the Manjago “Alkalolu” from the Kombo South District of the West Coast Region. The village heads represented the Manjago communities, who have expressed concerns about illegal encroachments on their ancestral land by neighbouring groups, leading to ongoing disputes and threats of violence.After the meeting, David Cardoman Gomez, the Alkalo of Faalah village shared that the Manjago communities are worried about these developments but are committed to addressing the issue through dialogue rather than confrontation, as they are law-abiding citizens. Gomez emphasised that the Manjago people are third-generation Gambians, having inherited their land from their great-grandfathers who arrived in the country long before British colonial rule. He expressed hope that the President and his government would work to resolve the land disputes affecting the Manjago community and return the land to its rightful owners, as outlined in the constitution and land policy.Yusupha Gomez, another community leader, conveyed sincere gratitude to President Barrow for hearing their concerns. He noted that through dialogue with all parties involved, an amicable solution could be reached regarding the land disputes. However, he advised the Manjago community to legally document their land to protect it from encroachments by speculators and neighbouring communities.Mr Gomez described President Barrow as tolerant, accommodating, and open to dialogue, expressing hope that the meeting would lead to a positive outcome, as they had presented a comprehensive report to him.

PRESIDENT BARROW WARNS BANJUL NORTH NAM OVER STATE HOUSE PROTEST, GIFTS D1M TO WOMEN'S GROUPS

President Adama Barrow has warned the National Assembly Member for Banjul North of serious consequences if he leads protests to the State House again.The President issued the warning during the final meeting of his Meet the People Tour held at the Never Again Memorial Arch in Banjul, where thousands of supporters turned out.The event also saw the presentation of a D1 million cheque to eight women's groups in Banjul under the government's Women's Enterprise Development Fund.As with other legs of the tour, development and welfare issues dominated the discussions.Several prominent Banjulians, including Mass Axi Gaye, Pa Modou Mbye, youth representative and Lady Councillor Fatou Ngum, commended President Barrow for transforming the capital. They cited the Banjul Roads and Drainage Project as a lasting legacy that has rejuvenated the city after years of neglect, and pledged massive votes for the President in the December presidential election.Essa Faal of APP Sobeyaa said Banjul has changed thanks to massive investment in infrastructure. "Banjul has better and cleaner roads now, with its mosquito-infested gutters all covered," he said. He cited the new fish smoking market and the construction of the KG5 mini-stadium as further evidence of transformation.The former TRRC Lead Counsel defended his alliance with President Barrow, saying it came after careful reflection. He described Barrow as the only candidate with a proven development track record and noted his implementation of some TRRC recommendations. He predicted a landslide victory for the President in December.NPP Regional Chairman Alhaji Ousman Wadda and Deputy Mayor Aziz Dabakh Gaye also praised the President for the infrastructural transformation of Banjul, which they said will define his legacy. Mam Abdoulie Njai, said President Barrow deserves another term given his development record over the past ten years. He appealed to the President to sponsor a football tournament to celebrate the completion of the KG5 mini-stadium, which he suggested should be renamed the Biri Biri Mini-Stadium in honour of the football icon.Regional Coordinator for Banjul, Ebrima Jawo, echoed similar sentiments and warned against the opposition. He also thanked the government for renovation works at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), which he said have significantly improved services.Minister of Lands and Regional Government, Hon. President Adama Barrow has promised to replicate the Banjul Roads and Drainage Project in Serekunda to modernise one of The Gambia's largest urban centres.The President pledged at a meeting in Serekunda as his Meet the People Tour entered the Kanifing Municipality (KM). He also warned young people against allowing themselves to be used by politicians for selfish political ends.President Barrow and his entourage were warmly received as his motorcade approached Serekunda School football field, where thousands of supporters had gathered for the meeting.The gathering was dominated by calls for continued support for President Barrow and the NPP-led Alliance.The Alkalo of Bundung, Saikou Konateh, thanked the President for solving the persistent water problems in Bundung, noting that water is now available. He pledged to mobilise his constituents to vote for President Barrow as a show of gratitude.Veteran politician and native of Serekunda, Hon. Kebba Jallow, urged the people of KM to abandon the opposition and embrace the ruling alliance, which he said has the welfare of the people at heart.Lady Councillor Anna Mbye, youth representative Mbayam Ceesay, and NPP Regional Chairman Mustafa Touray highlighted developments in KM under President Barrow, including the construction of roads, expansion of education and improved water supply.They, however, decried the poor state of services under the current municipal leadership, particularly the lack of water and toilet facilities at the Sandika and Serekunda markets, and urged voters to change the leadership at the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC).Former NAM for Latrikunda Sabiji, Hon. He appealed to the people of KM to vote for President Barrow in December to continue his development agenda."Serekunda Deserves Better"In his address, President Barrow praised the impressive turnout, saying it provided a unique opportunity to dialogue on national issues. He noted that Serekunda holds a special place as one of the country's biggest settlements.He challenged the people of KM to "rectify their political mistakes" by electing authorities willing to work with the central government to deliver development. While acknowledging massive developments in the last decade, he lamented the lack of cooperation from municipal authorities, accusing them of neglecting their responsibilities while living in luxury."This situation must change. KM deserves better," the President said, citing poor waste collection and the absence of water and toilet facilities in markets.President Barrow warned youth against being used as pawns by politicians, noting that during recent protests, many participants were children allegedly paid to vandalise public property. He urged them to desist from acts that undermine peace.Development Plan for SerekundaOutlining his programme, President Barrow disclosed plans to:Replicate the Banjul Roads and Drainage Project in Serekunda.Ensure 24-hour water and electricity supply.Sign a contract with an international company to collect and recycle waste from KM into renewable energy.Decommission the Bakoteh dumpsite and reclaim the land to build a garage and market for the people of KM.He challenged the people of Serekunda to take their destiny into their own hands and vote for progress, stating that the NPP-led Alliance stands for development, peace and stability.The tour continues in Kanifing Municipality with a meeting in Manjai Kunda.

PRESIDENT BARROW RETURNS TO BANJUL AFTER 10-DAY TOUR OF PROVINCES

President Adama Barrow returned to Banjul on Saturday to a hero’s welcome after spending 10 days touring the provinces.Thousands of supporters lined the highway to welcome the President as he crossed the Brumen Bridge in Kalagi, marking his entry into the West Coast Region (WCR) and completing the first leg of his Meet The People Tour.President Barrow was seen off at the Lower River Region (LRR) – WCR border by Governor Sidi Lamin Bah and regional officials. He was received on the other side by the Governor of WCR, his deputy, chiefs, alkalolu and other regional officials.Supporters of the NPP and its alliance partners had mobilised from early afternoon, creating a carnival atmosphere with singing, dancing and cultural displays.Waving to the cheering crowds, the President’s motorcade made slow progress out of Kalagi, with several stops along the highway.At Kuloro, supporters greeted him with fanfare before the entourage proceeded to Brikama, where thousands more filled the main intersection. Jubilant crowds swarmed the presidential vehicle and escorted it out of town.Similar scenes were repeated along the Brikama-Serekunda Highway, in Farato, Busumbala, Lamin and at the Airport Junction, where supporters lined the road to cheer the President.At Yundum Barracks, President Barrow stepped out of his vehicle to acknowledge the Gambia Armed Forces band, which had mounted a tent to add to the ambience.After the long procession through WCR, the President arrived in Abuko where he was received by officials of the Kanifing Municipality. He greeted the line of officials before continuing through Kanifing, waving to crowds that lined the streets.At Tallinding, he was welcomed by the Speaker of the National Assembly and leader of the APRC, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, and his executive.The motorcade then moved through Westfield, where supporters staged a final show of force, before proceeding to Denton Bridge for the official handover ceremony. From there, the entourage headed to the Never Again Arch in Banjul.In the capital, supporters staged a massive reception and accompanied the motorcade to State House, marking the official end of the welcome ceremony.Addressing supporters, President Barrow thanked them for the extraordinary show of support and pledged to continue championing national development. He described the upcoming December election as a foregone conclusion, given the unprecedented support received in WCR, Kanifing and Banjul.Inside State House, he was received by Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow.Earlier in Mansakonko, President Barrow had assessed the first leg of the tour as very successful, saying it gave him a true understanding of the situation across the country. He pledged to continue prioritising infrastructure, social services and capacity building.The second leg of the tour, covering the West Coast Region and Greater Banjul Area, will resume after a short break.

ITALY DONATES 40 VEHICLES TO GAMBIA SECURITY SERVICES

President Adama Barrow on Monday presented a fleet of 40 vehicles to the Ministry of Interior for onward distribution to security services.The vehicles were donated by the Government of Italy under an existing bilateral cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Interior aimed at strengthening The Gambia's security services.The presentation ceremony was held at State House and attended by security service chiefs and senior government officials.President Barrow handed over the vehicles to the Minister of Interior, Hon. Abdoulie Sanyang.Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, the Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department, Ebrima Mboob, described the partnership between The Gambia's security apparatus and their Italian counterparts as fruitful.He said the donation is timely and will strengthen the work of the security forces, improve mobility and expand their operational reach.Mr Mboob thanked the Minister of Interior for his support to the Immigration Department and the Police, and expressed gratitude to the Government of Italy for its continued assistance to the police and immigration in capacity building, border management and document security.The bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and Italy in the security sector has been ongoing for more than a decade.

President Adama Barrow says ten years of his leadership have delivered more development in education, health care, infrastructure, electricity and skills development than 52 years under his predecessors combined.President Barrow was speaking in Manduar as he continued his Meet the People Tour in the West Coast Region.The President arrived in Manduar to a massive reception, with thousands of enthusiastic supporters lining the main highway leading to the meeting grounds.Manduar is a major stronghold of the NPP-led Alliance, and the turnout reflected that as supporters filled the football field to capacity.Delivering the welcoming remarks, the Alkalo of Manduar thanked the President for choosing the village as the venue for the Brikama Central meeting. He praised President Barrow’s charismatic leadership and the developments undertaken over the last ten years.The Alkalo also expressed gratitude to the President for paying alkalolu salaries for the first time in The Gambia’s history, describing it as a clear demonstration of his generosity and commitment to the welfare of Gambians. He promised to mobilise all his constituents to vote for President Barrow in December.Several other speakers underscored the importance of the meeting in consolidating the large voter base in Brikama Central, Brikama North and Kombo East. They said President Barrow represents progress, peace and stability, and commended his unprecedented developments across the country.The National Assembly Member for Kombo East, Hon. Bah, urged voters to give President Barrow another five-year mandate to continue his development agenda.In his address, President Barrow gave a comprehensive account of his government’s performance over the last decade, which he said surpasses the combined record of his two predecessors.On electricity, he said out of 1,800 settlements nationwide, only 300 remain without power, adding that tenders have been evaluated and contracts awarded to connect them.On roads, the President said his predecessors built about 800 kilometres in 52 years, while his administration has built almost 1,500 kilometres in just over nine years — a significant milestone.He said similar progress has been recorded in education, where his government has built thousands of classrooms equipped with electricity and science laboratories, constructed a unified campus for the University of The Gambia, and established several TVET centres across the country to equip young people with skills.On health care, President Barrow disclosed that the government has spent hundreds of millions of dalasis to modernise existing hospitals and health centres while building new facilities nationwide.These achievements, he said, underscore his commitment to national development. He called on voters to renew his mandate to enable him to accomplish more, stating that his government represents the future and cautioning Gambians against voting for the opposition.

KABADA ROADS A MILESTONE: PRESIDENT BARROW PROMISES FULL ELECTRIFICATION OF LRR

President Adama Barrow has hailed the completion of the 200km Kabada roads project as a major milestone in The Gambia's infrastructural transformation. He was speaking in Jarra Wellingara Ba and Kiang Kwinella as he wrapped up the first leg of his Meet the People Tour.The President also promised to electrify the remaining communities in Lower River Region (LRR).After nearly eight days in Upper River Region (URR) and Central River Region (CRR), President Barrow crossed into LRR at the Sofanyama Bridge, which marks the boundary between the two regions.Governor Ousman Bah of CRR, alongside his Deputy Sainey Mbye, chiefs, alkalolu and regional security chiefs, saw off the President. He was received on the other side by Seedy Lamin Bah, the Governor of LRR, and regional officials, before greeting a long line of local dignitaries. After traditional ceremonies, the entourage proceeded to Wellingara Ba in Jarra Central.At Wellingara Ba football field, supporters surrounded the President’s motorcade chanting slogans in a carnival atmosphere. The meeting opened with prayers, followed by welcoming remarks from Alkalo Ali Baldeh, who reaffirmed his support and loyalty to President Barrow and assured him of votes in December.Other speakers, including Chief Ansumana Kanaji of Jarra East, Lady Councillor Sira Sabally, youth representative Lamin A. Jobe, National Assembly Member Honourable Haruna Barry and Paramount Chief Yahya Jarjusey, all renewed their support and vowed to mobilise for the President ahead of the December polls.They acknowledged the positive developments but appealed for expansion of the electricity network, more investment in agriculture, provision of cold storage facilities for women gardeners, and vaccines to protect livestock.Responding, Minister of Agriculture Dr Demba Sabally said the government will embark on a massive livestock vaccination campaign next year. He added that the government has already provided nine tractors, tilled hundreds of hectares in several communities in LRR, and built seven cold storage facilities to support women.President Barrow thanked the people of Jarra for the impressive turnout, saying it underscores the strong support he enjoys in the area. Yusupha Bah, recalled the difficulties Kabada faced in the past and contrasted it with the present, where all major roads are paved, describing it as an unprecedented feat that makes President Barrow the preferred candidate.
